My research focuses on policy coordination, collaboration, and stakeholder cognition in water governance. Namely, I examine these factors in relation to adaptation, mitigating hazards, and navigating uncertainty and complexity in aspects such as planning, adoption of conservation strategies in management, and policy innovation. Through this work, I seek to generate new knowledge about reducing vulnerability in natural and human systems.

To address core questions in my work, I use inferential and descriptive techniques, including social network analysis, linear modeling, and automated text analysis. My work is dedicated to building on theories of the policy process and collaborative governance. I also strive to develop actionable information that can support strategic decision making.
